Giveaway!!!

In my absence we passed the 350 follower mark! Thank you to all who follow. Your readership and comments are VERY appreciated. I would like to celebrate this milestone as well as thank you all with a small, but I think nice, giveaway.

Above you see part of a set of six pair of pewter closures. These would be lovely on a sweater, a boiled wool jacket, or any wool item. Some time ago I was gifted quite a few of these by a button store owner going out of business. How generous! I would like to share with you enough for your sweater or jacket. They really are lovely and I have used several sets over the years.

All you need to do is leave a comment about what you like best about the blog. Is it heirloom sewing, handbags, adult sewing, fitting, or even a particular post or tute you have enjoyed? Let me know in your comment and there will be a random drawing next Friday night at 8:00PM, July 22.

The past few days I have been stabbing myself with needles every time I pick up my pin cushion. I decided to sit down and push out all the hidden needles I could from the innards. It was stabbing work, but when done I came up with 25 needles that were lost in the sawdust deep within the pin cushion. 25!!! How many are hiding inside your pincushion?....Bunny

  8. Those pewter closures are sooo cute! I love your blog because you don't simply share what you make, you give instructions and insights from time to time that are really helpful. Love the smocking - I need to get back into it once again...

  9. Hi Bunny, I'm in awe of your heirloom sewing, and your amazing bags. However, I most enjoy your adult garment sewing, as well as the sewing tips and techniques. Thanks for a wonderful blog and so generously sharing your talent and skills.

  11. Bunny, Your blog has such a wonderful tone, and is so professional in presentation. I just find it a calm, creative space. I love looking over the details in your heirloom sewing, and take away many ideas from your garments and purses. Best of all are the stories of sewing with and for your granddaughter.

  12. I am so impressed with all your projects. I'm a baby heirloom dress sewer, having taken up the hobby with a new sewing machine when I retired a few years ago. I can't remember how I came across your website, but I'm so glad that I did. After making many baby dresses, you have inspired me to branch out and try something that I have always had a problem with - fitting patterns for myself. The great part is that it appears that we have very similar body types so that the adjustments you make to your patterns would be the same for me - that's why you've inspired me. I think you are so generous with your time. Thank you so much

  13. I have to say your heirloom sewing is what caused me to subscribe to your blog and your embroidery has influenced me to try it myself for the first time. Congratulations on so many followers.

  14. I love all the aspects of sewing on your blog, but I probably most appreciate the tailoring. My mother taught me (along with books) about tailoring while I was in college. I made beautiful suits and then went on to sew for my sister when she was in college & then worked at the university after she graduated. She received many compliments on her clothes.
Now, I do more smocking, heirloom and embroidery.

  15. I love the photos of the finished products the best. Your expertise is wonderful and I love seeing it come to fruition. The little girl dresses are a dream also.

I would dearly love these fasteners. I have light-weight red and black plaid fabric for a jacket that my sister brought from Italy and these would set it off very well; plus I would be motivated to get it finished before autumn.

  16. I think I like the finished product photos the best too! And, wow! that is an amazing number of pins to get lost in there!!
Thank you so much for your lovely words about my Mum's vest. She was thrilled to get so many nice comments!

  26. Oopps, I forgot to add that I think I have approx 2 packs on needles in my pin cushion! Everytime I go for a needle I can't find one because the pincushion's swallowed them up.
PS how cute is your pincushion?

  34. Love your blog and the pewter closures ! My favorite thing about your blog is that you share your expertise in so many areas and many times you blog about things that are so much like my own projects. For the last few years I've sewn mainly for my 4 granddaughters and have just now begun dipping into my too huge stash of wonderful knits. I have come to the conclusion that I need squeeze in a quick project for me in between smocking and sewing for my girls.

  35. Well, I want to win! Because I love everything about your blog. Yours was the first one that inspired me to sew for myself! It continues to inspire me, encourage me, and teach me!

  36. I can't specify my favorite part of your blog. The favorite for me is that I have found a sewing kindred spirit who also likes to sew garments for herself (as well as for the grandkids!)! I enjoy each and every one of your blog posts.

  37. Bunny, I love it all, and look for it every day. I am a smocker first, so especially enjoy anything "smocking"! I'm from Canada, and am the proud first-time grandma of a 2 month old baby girl, so am busy making sweet things for her!

  38. I love to read about the sewing you do for your grandchildren the best. I'm not a smocker, but I do love the heirloom/couture details of your sewing. And several of your tutorials have been helpful, as well. Hope I win the giveway! I'm drooling over those buttons.

  42. I originally wasn't going to post here, but your comment about most of the comments being about your bags and heirloom sewing made me aware that I need to post. :) I am in that other camp, apparently. The blog posts I most enjoy are about the clothing you sew. I usually just skim the bag posts and the smocking posts. I do, however, read word for word the posts you do about your sewing progress through things like the yellow pants you did, etc. I also have to say that I miss your posts when you go off to visit family and am always happy to have you return.

  43. Hi Bunny

The reasons I read your blog are many. Your sewing and garments intreage me, I fint the combination of heirloom and garment sewing makes this blog unique.I enjoy reading about your American lifestyle and culture, I am facinated by the stunningly beautiful photos of your country it is so different from my home. Some or your stories have touched me and I am greatful that you have shared your time and thoughts through the blog.

  45. Bunny, I started following your blog because of the great garments you make for yourself and the process you share with us. The bags are a bonus. But I find the tutorials that came out of the Cranberry Dress to be the epitome of your sewing skills.

  46. Oh, I think I'm going to still get in on this! Love everything about the blog - the detailed work, the bags, the finest craftmanship. Keep it up!

  47. Bunny, what truly impresses me about your blog is the CARE you take with everything. I may not care for purses, or the "style" of clothing (I have my own style), but that's okay. It's the attention to detail and the care you take no matter how fiddley that impresses me. I'm also a baby heirloom sewist and you have inspired me more than once regarding a garment, and even on my OWN clothing (which tends to be slapdash) I am now trying to be more particular about the fine points. Keep up the wonderful work!
