"I want to go home..........."

said Dorothy as she clicked the heels of her ruby red slippers together!

We had so much fun at the library today with our costumes and patrons. I am blessed to work with the most wonderful women.  Here are my friends, left to right, Mary "If you give a  mouse a cookie", Moi, as Dorothy from the" Wizard of Oz", Sue as the "Paperbag Princess" and Tammy, as a "Baseball hero".  That's a real Cincinatti Reds shirt she has on!

Back to real work tomorrow.

This getup was some serious down and dirty sewing. I thought to do Dorothy as I knew I had miles of blue gingham in the stash. Don't ask! The puffy sleeved cotton shirt was rescued from the donate pile and trimmed with blue ricrac. DD #2 donated Toto and his carrying basket and an overdue haircut contributed to some really short pig tails. All in all it was great fun that had me at the machine nightly the past three nights. Done, now! Hope you enjoyed fun in your corner of the world as well. Isn't that what it's all about? .......Bunny and back to regular sewing this weekend!

  2. That's the good part of life right there! Little moments filled with fun and frivolity! Adorable and I'm sure the patrons, of all ages, enjoyed it, too.

  6. Clearly, I am behind in my reading. I must learn more about the paperbag princess. ;) Thanks for sharing! I am so happy you found the perfect use for that gingham. It gives me hope for some of the things in my stash...

    1. In the book the Paperbag Princess wears nothing but her bag. Luckily Sue didn't take her costume literally!

  8. Why do we all love the chance to dress up? The little kids dressed as wolves, or ghosts, or like their favourite characters from books, films or TV? Grown men and women who like to cross dress, or become kids again, or animals? I think it is a chance to be someone different for a little while. I really enjoy the whole fantasy process, and just breaking out of the norm every now and then. You look perfect as Dorothy, and I love the paper bag princess, who I too, had never heard of.
