The three of you are so clever, creative and absolutely amazingly inspirational. I wish I lived in your neck of the woods as I would pester you all for sewing classes. Perhaps just as well that I live on the other side of the world :)ozvikinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05212558891829392288noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7871855805349050304.post-77198393906987634962013-08-23T04:54:17.075-04:002013-08-23T04:54:17.075-04:00look forward to seeing this Bunny - love the bead ...look forward to seeing this Bunny - love the bead ideapdiddlyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12231666147175522583noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7871855805349050304.post-51212608357559603152013-08-22T18:40:17.909-04:002013-08-22T18:40:17.909-04:00Thanks for those hints on your gorgeous vests. It was supposed to have happened in the spring, but somehow other projects got in the way. I'm now hoping that your sewing will serve as inspiration to get me going on this jacket - a few other projects need to come first, but then... I used the same type of stretch taffeta for my lining...I essentially made two vests, then sewed them together at front, bottom and armholes using a strip of the stretch taffeta...it made a very nice binding. I, too, paid more for the taffeta lining than the crinkled stuff! The first vest I made has been all over the world and held up very well!Margyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12530078687246891396noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7871855805349050304.post-21834669869099036182013-08-22T12:13:39.334-04:002013-08-22T12:13:39.334-04:00I love love those fabrics! This has already been washed on warm and tumble dried and it came out exactly as you see it, not an unplanned wrinkle anywhere, just the ones it came with. I'm excited too. I think I will make a quick muslin, however, as many on PR said it was a bit boxy. Boxy and short aren't a good combo. You could even attach narrow piping to the edge of the facing for a little drama to reveal as you take the jacket off...prepare for compliments! The facings could be cut wide and deep narrow pockets used in them to keep things safe. I have not used that fabric in things but I have used pre-wrinkled poly chiffon in those sheer jackets I keep making for my one client and when I steam seams...the fabric relaxes and flattens out. Lord knows what happens when it is washed...does it go back to wrinkled? I'd try a little scrap and see in advance. I like your idea of a study lining/underling and let the fabric be the star and not fused to anything. Great beads for the ends of the ties....I'm excited for you!mrsmolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16329515914613595719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7871855805349050304.post-15636329550578298242013-08-22T05:06:36.236-04:002013-08-22T05:06:36.236-04:00This jacket is going to be stunning, Bunny.
