If you are doing a straight edge, make sure to cut the freezer paper with a rotary cutter to get a nice strait edge to match up to. It saves me from sewing my fingernails, which is all that I can manage as my poor little (actually, heavy and lumpy) sewing machine is around 60 years old. There are no new parts for it, but I can manage all sorts of things and now to add a small strip of paper that dissolves... how AMAZING is that for teeny tiny hems! On something really curvy I would use a strip of paper maybe a half or 3/4 of an inch wide. Now, please, if it is not too much trouble, can you teach me or do another tutorial on how to do the narrow hem (or rolled hem) on very curvy hemline please? I cried when I had to do that for circular flounces, cut and joined for the length of the neckline. In the end I had to serge it instead of narrow hemming. Once stitched, open out the paper so you are looking at the wrong side of the fabric and paper. Press the seam toward the garment, being careful to not yet rip the paper. After that, fold the paper up as you see in the fourth photo. The tiny seam allowance will now turn in and you are ready to stitch on the edge of the hem. HTHs. I can't be sure and when you mention your tweak of pressing the seam away toward the garment, if you had started on the right or wrong side.
