Time for some fabric play. I dug out this linen which goes beautifully with the Koos #2 bag and played around with some smocking. I smocked most of the evening yesterday and am near done. This will be either an insert or applique somewhere. In the meantime, it put my head back into very pleasurable sewing. Now I am ready for the next project!...Bunny

It's a pretty colour of brown. Nice to retreat into the sort of sewing that you really love. Smocking is always so pretty. I'd be tempted to give it a go with two little girls, but I don't want to buy one of the machines just to try something out!
ReplyDeleteOk, I have to ask, how do you do smocking as applique?
ReplyDeleteDepends on the situation but basically like any other applique, turning under the edges and stitching down by hand, for me anyway. Sometimes I fold under the top edge before it goes into the pleater and some times I will embroider the top edge down or cover it with bias binding. We'll see how this plays out on the next Koos bag.
DeleteGlad your doing some sewing that isn't driving you crazy this time.
