Sewing Vloggers

It's official. Threads has announced the winner of the Fall Jacket Challenge for Sew Stylish magazine. I made it to the finish line and came up a winner. I really really want to thank each and every one of you who voted for me. I also want to say I understand if you voted for one of the other entrants as that was some damn stiff competition! Not sure who I would have voted for if I weren't an entrant. All of the jackets were unique and beautifully made. They really make the case for the art of sewing and how it allows your creative expression to be shown to the world. So satisfying!

Contests like this show the possibilities. We can't all be Van Gogh but we can all paint if we so desire and love doing so. That's what it's really about, knowing the capabilities and working through the challenges to come out with our own artistic expression. You all amaze me every day with your works of art and with your challenges met. Thank you again for your support and encouragement and continue with striving to sew better with each garment. You are the next winner!....Bunny

  19. Hi there Bunny darling,

Huge congratulations. So thrilled that I voted for you...............always a winner in my book!

May I be cheeky and make a request, as a follower of your wonderful blog? My DH has kindly bought me a serger(overlocker) for me for Christmas. I have insisted that it be presented on Christmas Day, so I can be like a little girl on Christmas morning; all giddy and excited!!

Would you consider doing a little piece about sergers Bunny. I am trying to learn about the right threads, what woolly nylon is and do I need it?? I think you get the gist. I love all your tutorials, so I apologize in advance if sergers as a subject has been covered. If it has, how do I locate it.

Sorry, lots of questions when you should be out celebrating.

    Congratulations again.
    Marysia.

    1. Truthfully, Marysia, all I ever use my serger for is to finish seam allowances. I don't even sew seams together with it. That's because my current serger is very old and that is all it does although it does it quite well. It is all I have used since the early 90s. This is what motivated me about the contest. I have been eying sergers for a long time that do things other than finish a seam and the one in the contest does. I am thrilled about the automatic rolled hem. I've been coveting that for a long time. Bottom line, I am not very experienced on the serger and would be learning as much as you. The chops to teach anything on serging are far off, dear friend.
