Congrats on 43 years!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary to you both!! You looked so happy. Best Wishes for many more years together.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! What a wonderful example for us youngsters - we've been married almost 10 years, but I have trouble remembering life before marriage. I can only hope we're blessed with another 33 years.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Your gown looks much like mine did (married 25 years), and I think they looked classy! BTW, I am very impressed that you made your own gown.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Angela. In those days deparment stores like Filene's would put artist's renderings of their clothing in the newspaper. It was a delight to open the Boston Globe on a Sunday and look at those gorgeous drawings of designer clothing. I saw a similar gown in a Filene's ad. Can't remember the designer and so wish I had that drawing today. The veil/headpiece was from a different ad, Filene's again and it was a Dior design. I copied that to a teen. The gown is guipure lace and silk peau de soie purchased at Saffler's. I'm sure many from Massachusetts remember Safflers. It was quite the fabric store. I did do a muslin first to get the fit and the collar construction down.
DeleteIgnore my cold stuffed head typos this morning. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary Bunny !! Our 50th is this Saturday and yes we were well covered.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Dawn! How wonderful! I am so glad Kate Middleton brought modesty back to the wedding. I am so tired of looking at gorgeous young women who really would look much better with a bit of coverage. Some of those oozing out wedding pics, oy,,,, but I guess we all want to follow the style.
DeleteOmigosh, what a fun picture! Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeletewhat a fantastic photograph and you look beautiful - I doubt that I will see 43 years this time round but I hope to see many years of happiness.

What a cute picture Bunny. You both look so happy!! Your smile is infectious!! And that gown is gorgeous! Congratulations on 43 years!!!! Hope you have something really special planned provided Ern is well enough.
ReplyDeleteHubby has gifted me with a custom designed new wedding ring that will use my original diamond and six other diamonds from a pin that my Dad gave my Mom before he passed. It means so much to me. We had such fun sitting with the goldsmith and working up a custom design. I felt like a new bride again.
DeleteSuch a happy day...I'm glad your honey is still around to celebrate another year of wedded bliss! You two look so charming in that photo. Your smile has not changed at all. Happy Anniversary Congratulations!!!

DeleteHi Bunny - congratulations to you and Ern on your wedding anniversary. Only 2 years to go for a Sapphire celebration! What a beautiful and happy looking bride and groom. I love the ringlets on your photo!
ReplyDeleteI was a child of the sixties and my hair is bone straight and down to below my bum at the time of the wedding. That do took a lot of work! I kept my long straight hair till I hit 32 and went very short. No regrets!
DeleteCongratulations! We certainly were covered up in those days! You looked beautiful.
ReplyDeleteCongratulation, Bunny and Ern. Life is great isn't it, we have mellowed and molded into each other, and life just seems to get more blissful with each added year. Hugs to you

ReplyDeleteThank you, everyone!
DeleteThank you so much for taking the time to share your talent. I'm a new reader, back into sewing now that my children are grown and I'm determined to master my craft the correct way. I do regret not continuing to sew for my daughters once they were no longer toddlers. I let my fears win and didn't learn what I needed. Not this time. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome, Amy. That is really sweet.
DeleteAn absolute gorgeous photograph. Your smile says it all.
