Who's got the button?

Here are some button options, most vintage from my stash. Your thoughts?

Can't wait to hear your opinions. You can see the topstitching here. I added TSing to the edge and used a rayon thread with gleam. It gave the stitching a bit more prominence that way. It's at 3.5 stitch length.

  2. Oh, I love to help choose 😊
My choice would be the 2 lavender buttons with the white rings toward the bottom of the picture. The color seems to work the best.

  3. Ditto Rhonda. Concentric rings. Perfect!

  4. I like either pair of the ringed buttons; both are fun with the plaid.

  5. Me too. I like the buttons with the white rings on the bottom of the photo.

  6. The darker buttons with white rings are perfect.

  7. I think the lighter colored buttons with the white rings [top of photo] would blend better with the plaid [not look like dots on the squares]. Lovely choices!

    1. I agree with Kansas Sky. Perhaps it is my monitor but the others seem to be too dark a purple for the fabric.

    2. Monitors do lie! ; )
Truth is they both are in the colors in the plaid. I do like those "ringed" buttons a lot. They are vintage.

  8. All of them are nice, but I LOVE the solid dark purple buttons.

  9. My first impression was the lighter ones. With a bold plaid, I like that they do not compete with the fabric.

Can't wait to see the final!

  10. I have to vote for the lighter buttons at the top with the white rings. :)

  11. Its the lighter ones at the top for me - can't wait to see which ones you eventually choose.

  12. Lighter buttons with white rings. I was initially drawn to the darker version of that one but the color is a bit off to me and the lighter one adds interest without competing.

  13. Oh Fun! I like the darker buttons with the white rings (toward the bottom of the photo).

  15. I think the dark lavender with the ring are so cute with the plaid.

  16. Definitely one of the ones with the rings. They mimic the plaid design. Since I don't trust the colors I see on my monitor, lol, the choice of which one to use is up to you.

  17. I like the lighter color with the rings. I agree with Urbanite that they don't compete with the fabric.

  18. I vote the darker color with rings. Unless there's something wackadoodle with the photo doing odd things to the colors or my monitor, they seem to go with the fabric better to my eye. 2nd place (or if you want the buttons to stand out more) goes to the lighter color with rings.

  19. The darker color with the rings. :)

  20. My 2 cents: the darker ones with the rings, they just popped out at me as the best.

  21. Hi Bunny
For me, I would choose the ringed buttons at the bottom like Rhonda and others. Cannot explain in, but they just work when I at that. Which do you personally prefer?

    1. I haven't decided yet but I think it will be one of the rings. I never make a button decision until they need to go on so not quite yet.

  22. Hi love your blog, have never left a comment before but I just have to this time! Darker purple rings #1, paler rings #2

  23. Loving the darker concentric rings!

  24. To my eye, all are the wrong shade of purple. Time to shop for a better choice. Plaid is too gorgeous to mess with the wrong button.

  25. Upper right, or the lighter purple with rings. I think that this purple goes better with your shirt. It appears to be a redder purple, which is what the shirt looks like on my monitor. But, of course color on the web is not always correct.

    1. The plaid actually has a subtle red stripe woven in one of the darker bars. Thanks, Nancy.

    2. I agree completely with Nancy K. The lighter buttons with rings look like they match the colors of the plaid the best. The others look too bluish on my monitor.

  26. What is "TSing" added to the edge? Buttons are all wonderful. From the color on my monitor they all look a bit too blue compaired to the red violet of the fabric. It's a gorgeous plaid. I think the buttons with the rings compete with the fabric.

  27. Another vote for the dark rings.

  28. I also like the buttons with the rings. Either one looks good with your fabric on my monitor. Looking forward to seeing your finished shirt. This pattern is on my list to make soon.

  29. I'm leaning towards the darker purple with the light rings, good luck with the decision making!

  30. lighter purple with white rings....the others are too dark purple

  31. I like the buttons with the rings but on this screen the button which goes best is the one on the far right so that's the one I'd choose. I love the big buttons on the left too. Actually, they're all nice.

  32. The lighter purple with rings look best on my monitor, the others are too blue. Best, Sue.

  33. Top center or left dark purple - hard to tell the colors on the screen. Love picking out buttons

  34. Lighter lavender with rings at the top, as it blends with the plaid

  35. I like the lighter purple with the rings better, though the darker ones caught my eye first. Because they are more outstanding, I think over time they might prove to be a distraction. The lighter ones blend better. I wouldn't want to be seeing the buttons at the expense of that beautiful plaid!

  36. buttons with the rings...i cant decide between the lighter or darker colour. Lovely combination. abbey

  37. All nice buttons, but I don't like any of them for this project. The stripers have too much going on. None of them is the same winey color of the stripes. If you put a gun to my head, I'd choose the big purple ones.

  38. I like the rings. The one on the bottom looks best to me but the other set on the top are also good.

  39. The darker purple with rings at the bottom at the photo. This was fun! Let's do it again sometime :)

  40. Bunny, you are one of the rare sewists who can turn a flannel shirt into a garment that would run $500 in a boutique. A couture flannel shirt is no oxymoron with you at the machine!

  41. Sensational, particularly in the plaid!
